Our Household: Specs and Construction Details

SEO Recommendations

  • Meta Description: Details of the house used for OptiHeatX real-world testing: construction, insulation, and heating system setup.
  • Title Tag: Our Household: Specs and Construction Details

(Gamma.app prompt: A photo of a modern, well-insulated brick house with underfloor heating pipes visible in one section.)

Let’s take a look at the specifics of the house where we’ve implemented our OptiHeatX system. It is located in Central Serbia. Remember, this is just our particular setup. Your ideal configuration will depend on your own property!

Here’s a breakdown:

  • Houses: We actually have two houses on the property. Right now, we’re only heating one.
  • Heated House: It’s a single-story house with an attic.
  • Area: The total area is 115 m², but the usable space (excluding walls) is 90 m².
  • Wall Construction:
    • Mostly 30 cm thick bricks.
    • Some sections are 20 cm thick aerated concrete blocks.
  • Interior Walls:
    • Load-bearing walls: 30 cm thick brick.
    • Partition walls: Mostly 15 cm thick brick, with some 10 cm thick aerated concrete blocks.
  • Insulation:
    • Walls: 10 cm thick foam plastic panels.
    • Ceiling: 15 cm thick soft mineral insulation.
  • Ventilation: Each room has an adjustable ventilation hatch leading to the attic. We adjust these based on the weather – wider openings when it’s warm, narrower when it’s cold, and completely closed during frost (when we ventilate briefly through windows instead).
  • Heating System: Underfloor heating using metal-plastic water pipes (16 mm diameter, total length 510 m). See Heating system for more details.
  • Boiler Room: Located in the other house, about 14 meters away. The heating and water supply pipes are insulated and buried about 1 meter underground.
